on365 announce a partnership to develop and sell highly energy efficient containerised data centre solutions with the Belgium based engineering company Automation and the Hampshire based Colt International, one of Europe’s leading independent providers of building services.
on365 has exclusive UK sales rights of Automation’s ‘SAFE Modular Containerised Data Centre’ design and exclusive datacentre application rights to Colt Group’s ‘Coolstream adiabatic cooling system’, allowing the partnership to guarantee customers a PUE score (power usage effectiveness) of 1.15 maximum – which competes with the results Google’s publish from their own, renowned environmentally friendly, IT infrastructure.
The low level of energy waste is largely due to the use of filtered, direct air adiabatic cooling techniques, running on fresh air and water only, without the use of expensive mechanical cooling or air conditioning units. The system conforms to the stringent A1 ASHRAE (American Society Of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) standard by offering a unique relative humidity regulation process that occurs after the adiabatic process.
on365’s containerised datacentres can be deployed up to 60% faster than traditional designs and offering typical CAPEX savings of 30%. In OPEX for cooling alone, the new datacentre can save businesses £1.1m for every 1MW of IT load, over a ten year period.
Chris Smith, director, on365 comments: “By offering clients a guaranteed PUE of 1.15, we are providing businesses with the tools they need to cut energy wastage and reduce their carbon footprint. The containerised design also allows datacentre providers to finally offer effective modularisation, flexibility and a high speed of deployment.”
Frank Vanlocke, Projects & Service Director, Automation comments: “As well as the clear costs and carbon savings, the new containerised datacentre outperforms traditional ‘stick-built’ installations and provide secure, reliable and fast IT connections for mission critical business applications – anywhere and anytime within the Northern Europe climate.”

Legacy datacentre design falls way short of the latest demands and modular, containerised datacentres are increasingly being deployed. on365 has exclusive UK sales rights of Automation’s ‘SAFE Modular Containerised Data Centre’ design and exclusive datacentre application rights to Colt International’s ‘Coolstream adiabatic cooling system’. on365’s containerised datacentres can be deployed up to 60% faster than traditional designs and offering typical CAPEX savings of 30%.
